Process of Art

Art is a continuing process. For me there is always another way to learn how to work with a media whether it is oil, graphite, acrylic or pastel. New surfaces to work with and different mediums to make the things work differently sometimes smoother more refined sometimes with more brushstrokes or lines.

Plein Aire and Still lifes

This fall I have plunged into plein aire painting. Having taken several workshops from various artists it was wonderful to work with Victoria Harvey of Nantucket on a weekly basis. I call these my plein aire babies. Being outside and in the moment at these locations is so refreshing. It builds my artistic soul
Studio work with still lifes has progressed also. With winter coming on I anticipate more of these still lifes appearing. They are very challenging. After my workshop with Sherrie McGraw I believe I have a better grasp on what direction I want to work toward with my still lifes. There needs to be more concept and attention to light and movement. I hopefully will improve in that area.
