Process of Art

Art is a continuing process. For me there is always another way to learn how to work with a media whether it is oil, graphite, acrylic or pastel. New surfaces to work with and different mediums to make the things work differently sometimes smoother more refined sometimes with more brushstrokes or lines.

Copyright Discussion

Copyright issues for artists of all genres has become an explosive problem. Do we post our work knowing that there is a good chance at some point our intellectual property will be stolen. For now I will continue to post but will be a banner carrier for protecting artist's copyright.

Painting at Two Rivers

The last time I went out to Two Rivers KARK came out to do a piece on erosion and caught me painting. Glad to give some positive feed back for the park. It is a great place to paint and enjoy the outdoors. Check out the link for the article.

On Being Creative

This quick video applies to every creative field. Many many days I look at what I have been painting and think it is close but there is a deeper vision that I am still trying to reach.

Arkansas Plein Aire

This fall has been a wonderful time to paint plain air. There have been gentle days with soft greens fading and exuberant  shades of yellow, orange and red showing off for all to see.

Colorado Plein Aire

There is a tremendous rejuvenation when painting outside. Painting in a new place is especially exciting. These are some of my paintings from a May trip to Steamboat Springs Colorado. The colors are so fresh and new at that time of year.

When you can't get outside you find interesting objects to paint. In spring flowers from the garden are fast choice.
